Raven Slaughter, rock and roll musician from Cleveland and current resident at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation (Willoughby, OH), recently had his Heart’s Desire fulfilled to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to see his guitar on display.

Raven has been a resident at ProMedica since he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Growing up in Cleveland he became a part of the music scene in the 70’s and created his “S” shaped guitar. When the team at ProMedica learned that his guitar was being displayed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, they coordinated with the museum for Raven to visit with his friends and family.

Raven absolutely loved going back to Cleveland and reminiscing his rocker days and seeing his guitar inside of the museum.

Brenda admitted to MedBridge at Heartland for intensive rehabilitation and comprehensive skilled nursing after having a knee replacement.

"After my knee replacement, I knew I needed rehabilitation to get stronger before I could return home. I chose MedBridge at Heartland of Willoughby for my rehab, and I'm glad I did! When I first arrived, I felt like I was good enough to go home after a couple of days. After my first day of therapy, however, I realized I would not have been able to get around at home like this. The therapy staff really helped me, and I'm much stronger now! My goal was to be able to walk, and I'm happy to say that I can walk much better now than I could when I first got to Heartland. I've been doing a lot of the exercises my therapists gave me, and I'll continue to do them at home. The nursing staff were wonderful as well. I enjoyed spending time with my nurses and aides, and they made me feel special and cared for. I felt very safe there and had a good relationship with all of the staff. I am thankful for everyone at Heartland of Willoughby for making my rehab so meaningful!

Ronald admitted to MedBridge at Heartland for intensive rehabilitation and comprehensive skilled nursing following a hospitalization for pancreatitis and respiratory failure. 

"I found myself in the hospital after becoming weak and having trouble breathing, and knew I needed rehabilitation to get stronger before I could return home. I heard good things about MedBridge at Heartland of Willoughby, so I chose to go there for my rehab. Everything about my stay has been great! I really enjoyed spending time with the nurses and nursing assistants. They truly cared about me and wanted to see me get stronger. The nursing staff were very attentive and took care of whatever I needed quickly and with a smile. I really liked being in the therapy gym working with my therapists. Because I was so weak when I arrived, my therapists started slowly with me and gradually increased what they asked me to do. They recognized when I was feeling tired, and they would let me rest before having me continue my therapy. My main goal was to be able to safely walk on my own, and I'm happy to say that I reached this goal and was able to start walking within five days! I'm looking forward to using the exercises my therapists gave me to continue getting stronger at home.

My name is Karen, and I am 72 years old. I was a patient at Heartland in Willoughby. Prior to that, I was a patient in a hospital for two weeks. The worst care I ever received. When I left, I was pretty much a vegetable. I couldn’t move hardly any part of my body. I had worked myself into a terrible medical state with extreme stress.

My first day at Heartland, I met an angel named Kadaya. She was my day nurse. She helped restore my broken body and mind with her pleasant and upbeat self. You have several angels working at your facility, and you probably don't even realize it. My night nurse was Jane. A wonderful nurse. The other nurses that also gave me great care were Shaquita, Jennifer and April. I also had several nurse aides, including Darlene, Dina, Tamika, Arianna, Zoltaz, Anisha, Shay and Nicole. I also met the dietary staff, and the food was good.

The next set of angels I met were my physical and occupational therapists, Sarah, Laurie, Marlon, Bill, Rachelle and Debbie. At no time when I told them that I was hurting a little bit did they insist that I continue. Again, such respect and care for a patient. I was told by the nurses at the hospital that the staff at Heartland was going to cause me more pain and that they were going to work my body very hard. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

I just want someone to know what a great staff you have there. I have never felt so much love and respect from people who didn't even know me. God has a special place in heaven for all of these girls. I will continue to pray for them each and every day. Thank you to Heartland and all the "Angels" you have working there. I would definitely recommend your facility to everyone. God bless and keep up the good work.
